Annette Donner is a seasoned media professional in television, radio, and print journalism on Guam as well as internationally and has extensive experience in public relations.

Donner works for the Department of Defense, Secretary of the Navy in the Joint Guam Program Office (JGPO-Fwd) at Naval Base Guam, a position which draws upon her journalism and public relations background. Her office works with their main JGPO office in Washington, DC and as the community liaison, protocol, public affairs officer she maintains close coordination with the Government of Guam and the community regarding the ongoing plans related to the proposed military build-up. She also coordinates and executes visits by congressional representatives and high-ranking civilian, military and Japanese officials.

Donner became involved in freelance photo-journalism in college and in television and radio on Guam since 1978. She has published in national print outlets such as the Los Angeles Times, travel magazines, Japanese and Russian magazines, and has co-authored a book detailing her year spent in Afghanistan. Her extensive educational and historical video productions include radio and television vignettes about Guam’s history and culture, The Salvage of the Caribia for the Army Corps of Engineers, Protect Our Oceans for the Guam Visitor Bureau, Marines Return to Guam for the National Park Service and Liberation 40 and Guam’s Liberation about the Guam WWII era.

Donner opened a public relations consulting agency in the mid-1980s on Guam, Donner & Associates, and developed and executed extensive mass media public awareness campaigns for corporations, non-profit organizations, the federal government and the Government of Guam. She also served as public relations director or consultant in various Government of Guam agencies.

Donner has been recognized for her contributions to the community with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society of Professional Journalists, the Ancient Order of the Chamorri, an Ambassador of Guam designation, commendation letters and resolutions from Guam legislatures, Pacific universities, corporations and the military.

Donner served as a video archivist for the Guampedia project. She has two grown children, Christopher and Paige and two grandchildren.
