Bruce Karolle

Bruce G. Karolle earned a Ph.D. in geography from Michigan State University in 1978 and an M.S. in geography from the University of Missouri in 1967. He also holds a B.S. in education from Central Michigan University, which was awarded in 1962.
Karolle first arrived in Guam in 1962 as a contract teacher and taught high school social studies for three years with the Department of Education. He left Guam in order to pursue his master’s degree and later taught geography at the State University of New York, at the Fredonia and Plattsburgh New York campuses.
Karolle returned to Guam and held a teaching position in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Guam in 1968 and went on to become an associate professor in 1980. Karolle taught geography and was a professor of research at the University of Guam’s Micronesian Area Research Center from 1968 until his retirement in late 1994.
Currently, Karolle works part-time in his partner’s home building business, travels and is writing his memoirs. He resides in Tamuning, Guam.
