Marketing
Rita Pangelinan Nauta served as producer and director of Guampedia’s short film, I Tinituhon: Puntan yan Fu’una, which tells the story of Guam’s creation. She also headed marketing and development as Guampedia’s marketing director.
Nauta is currently special assistant to the administrator at Guam Economic Development and Commerce Authority (GEDCA), an autonomous agency of the Government of Guam and a Guam public corporation that aims to develop a sound and sustainable economy through innovative programs that preserve and promote local culture, economic opportunities and quality of life.
Nauta earned a B.A. in psychology from California State University, Long Beach in 1987 and an associate of arts degree in psychology from El Camino Community College in Torrance, California in 1985.
A native of Guam, Nauta’s career in marketing and communications began, inadvertently, when she was selected to represent Guam in the 1988 Miss World pageant in London. Nauta has worked in marketing and public relations on Guam since the mid-1990s.
She was the marketing director of Guahan Magazine from 2003 to 2004, where she played a key role in marketing and branding efforts for the magazine’s launch in 2003. Her professional experience also includes serving as media and promotions officer for Guam Economic Development Authority from 1996 to 2000 and public relations director with Glimpses-McCann Erickson from 1995 to 1996.
Nauta has worked as a consultant on marketing and communications projects with various Guam advertising, marketing and promotional firms. She also conducts training seminars in communications, human relations, corporate sales and customer service.
From 2001 to 2005, Nauta served as an adjunct marketing instructor at the School of Business and Public Administration at the University of Guam where she taught Advertising and Sales Promotions and Consumer Behavior.
Nauta considers herself a “cultural activist”and is the daughter of Francisco Sablan and Engracia Diaz Pangelinan. She is married to Rick Nauta and they have three children.
